April full of school traditions

An Upper Elementary student works on her history U.S. assignment.

March flew by fast! It feels like spring break was just yesterday. This month will be the best yet with several of our favorite MTS traditions, including our Spring Performance, Spring Festival and annual field trip to the Arboretum.

In math, we have been exploring decimals, ratio, proportion, percent and fractions. Our geography skills are improving as we continue to work on our Florida study, U.S. history and World Geography study. Our Literature study group just completed “Come Sing Jimmy Jo,” and I know the children are happy to be done with it! They worked so hard!

This month, we are welcoming two new students to Upper Elementary. They are lovely girls and are also cousins! Coming up before the end of the school year, we also will have Lower Elementary visitors who will get to see what it will be like to transition into Upper Elementary.

Field Trips

We will go to the Arboretum with Lower Elementary for a day trip and many outdoor activities. Hopefully, the weather is awesome! Please make sure that your child dresses appropriately for the weather and is wearing sunscreen and bug spray! Please let me know if you would like to be a chaperone for this event.

The third-years will join Upper Elementary for a field trip to visit UNF this
month.

UNF

Upper Elementary will take its annual trip to the University of North Florida. While we’re there, we’ll get to see the robotics lab, the TV studio and get our hands on some fun activities. Weather permitting, we’ll eat in the beautiful courtyard! Please let me know if you’re available to chaperone.

Transition

During the next few weeks, we will have Lower Elementary third-graders visiting as a transition period for next year. We are so thankful to have many wonderful leaders in our current group to show them how we function as a community.
