Sara Lain, Lead Toddler Directress

Ms. Sara is happy to be immersed in the Montessori toddler environment.

“Before I even knew it was Montessori, I was intrigued with the ideas and practices when I would hear about them,” she said of the Montessori approach to education.

“I love the whole Montessori way,” Ms. Sara said, “but some highlights for me are the calm, peaceful, community-oriented and nonjudgmental environment, and having hands-on work for the children instead of direct instruction.”

Outside of the classroom, Ms. Sara enjoys many types of yoga, being outside in nature, especially the beach, traveling, and spending time with family, friends and children.

Toddlers are busy with spring activities

As we get close to the end of the school year, the children who are old enough are assessed for readiness to move to Primary in the fall. Ladybugs make room for frogs, lizards

This month, we concentrate on birds, land/water/sky, seasonal objects associated with St. Patrick’s Day and then spring items. We are starting to introduce frogs and lizards, as well. Toddlers take on leadership roles

As we move along in the school year, there are more opportunities for children to take a leadership role. This could be teacher-initiated, or we might suggest the child look around to see if a classmate is available. It’s usually thought that the older children are the leaders, but sometimes a … [Read more...]
