Every family has at least one “must have” Thanksgiving dish. You know that one dish if it doesn’t appear on the table, people start to whisper, “Ummm… did she really not make that this year?” Without it, Thanksgiving just isn’t the same. For some it’s the stuffing, for others the turkey, but for our family it’s an hor dourve we call Stuffed Celery. We’re not sure of its official name. The recipe is at least a 50-year family tradition. There are many different reasons this dish is so special to our family. For me, it’s the one dish I never had to wait to eat. Stuffed celery was always displayed on the table when complany first arrived and it gave an immediate cue – It’s Thanksgiving! But more than a delicious food to eat, this simple dish brought comfort and family together and the best part, I was part of it! This year we thought you might like to try it since its an easy recipe children can help make. Children of all ages can clean and slice celery, mix and spread, and display on a tray. The recipe is below for your convenience, but we wanted to post a few pictures first.
Hope you enjoy. And if you try this dish, post a comment and let us know how it turned out. What are your “must have” holiday dishes?
