When toddlers attend Montessori Tides School, our most important goal is to provide a secure and nurturing environment. The main focus for children at this age is language and motor development, assisting in developing self-help skills, encouraging and aiding their budding independence, and helping children to build trust in relationships.
At this level we are working toward developing the building blocks of learning:
Real success in academics, as well as in life in general depends on the strength of these qualities. We want you to keep in mind that these qualities, along with healthy social development and self-confidence, are the important tasks of childhood and the goals of Montessori Tides preschool experience. The fact that the child also learns to read, write, and do complex mathematical operations, is secondary.
The students continue to further develop the qualities of CCIO. At this level there is a greater focus on academic development, but not from the traditional standpoint of memorizing facts for testing. Students at this level learn how to think critically and explore new possibilities. The goals are academic excellence, creative thinking, global understanding, universal values, and community service.
