Historical Halloween gives students a chance to dress up and celebrate the accomplishments of others who have contributed to our world.
The event also is a fun introduction to research for new Lower Elementary students. Throughout October, the students work on Historical Halloween as homework.
First, they choose a person, such as an inventor or researcher, who has made a contribution to society. They then research and write a few facts about their chosen person. The work culminates in a Halloween presentation where the students “become” their chosen individuals and share facts about them to their classmates, teachers and guests.
The students also visit the Primary classrooms, where they shared a bit about these important people.
