Lots of fall activities for Primary students

A Primary student tweezes corn off the cob, which is a fall practical life activity.

This month, we are studying Canada and learning about the weather, seasons, leaves and pumpkins through hands-on materials, puzzles and matching activities. Some of the activities include:

Practical Life:

  • Pouring corn
  • Tweezing corn off the cob
  • Pumpkin scrubbing

For Art:

  • Leaf rubbing
  • Marble painting leaves
  • Tissue gluing on a tree
  • Pin-punching a pumpkin
The Primary classroom is studying Canada in October.

Science, Botany and Geography

  • Country study: Canada
  • The moon and its phases
  • Labeling and matching leaves
  • Season puzzles
  • Weather puzzle
  • What’s the weather at group time

Back Deck with Ms. Barbara:

  • Pea plant planting
  • Painting sycamore leaves collected by the students on the playground
  • Checking the thermometer for the temperature
  • Sensory bin: Indian corn and the cobs
  • Upcoming: Carving our classroom pumpkin

Birthday Celebrations:

Due to COVID-19, we have new procedures for birthdays. We will celebrate outside, and it is limited to two guests. The treat needs to be individually wrapped. Since we have children with severe allergies in class, we would greatly appreciate it if the treats could be free of dairy, eggs, sesame seeds and garlic.
