Last week, we rolled out the Time Line of Life (the 2nd great lesson). With the Time Line of Life, we will study many subjects. We have begun by looking at one cell organisms in the microscope. We will talk about vertebrates and invertebrates, the five classes of vertebrates, and the five kingdoms.
In writer’s workshop sessions, some students have been learning about letter writing and others are beginning poetry lessons.
Some favorite math works in the classroom right now, are the money boxes and a card game that is used to, reinforce math facts, build strategies, and use critical thinking.
Holiday research is always a favorite this time of year. The students will break into small groups and study fall/winter holidays. Topics for holiday research this year will be, Winter Solstice, Hanukkah, Kwanza, Christmas, and Chinese New Year.
Third year students are invited to go on the USO shopping trip again this year.
Students will go to Native Sun on Tuesday, December 13th. They will leave at 8:45 and return to school around noon. Please let me know if you would like to be a chaperone for the shopping trip.
Please join us for our holiday party, MOVE-A-THON presentation, and performance on Wednesday, December 21 st from 11:00–11:45am. We will have early dismissal after the party.
The children are really moving and grooving in F.A.C.E. class! Thanks for your support! We will demonstrate their hard work at the holiday party!
During December, the students are divided into small groups to research fall and winter holidays. On December 20th, each group will present their research and we will share in a “pitch in lunch”. Each student will be assigned a food item or decoration that is traditional to the holiday they are studying, to bring in and share with the class.

Field Trips 2016-2017
We are diligently working to schedule a field trip, once a month, that enriches our curriculum. We appreciate all of the time that our parents take out of their schedules to drive and make these trips possible. At this time the following field trips are scheduled:

March 7 – Old Florida Museum
