The last two weeks of February ended with ladybugs: posting, painting, gluing, stamping, ladybug transfers. Variations on this theme lead to attractive activities. At the end of two weeks we released the ladybugs which was another a special treat!
March began with pots of gold, rainbows and shamrocks all to represent the luck of the Irish.
Some of the songs:
One little, two little, three little shamrocks,
Four little, five little, six little shamrocks,
Seven little, eight little, nine little shamrocks,
Ten little shamrocks bringing you luck!St Patrick is a leprechaun, he has a pot of gold,
He hides it in a special place, between two logs I’m told.
We also dance to a Music Together song: “Dance to your daddy, my little laddie…” and to “Ran Tin Tinnah” which is one of my favorite melodies!
After Spring, a new theme of all kind of bugs began. To match, sort and some to put on the refrigerator on a forest floor scene. We painted and glued ants, and pin-punched ant-decorated papers. The children played in a sensorial bin with bugs in a medium of coffee, cinnamon and split peas.
Now, a few weeks before the spring festival the themes are blending towards Spring, and we have eggs, bunnies, and chicks.
Spring Songs:
I am a baby bird, hatching from my shell,
Out comes my head, then comes my tail.
Now my legs I stretch, my wings I give a flap,
I fly and fly and fly, now what do you think of that?
Down, down, down, down, down down.
Five eggs, and five eggs, that makes ten,
Sitting on top is mother hen,
Cackle, cackle, cackle, what do I see?
ten fluffy chicks, as lovely as can be!
I saw a little bunny go hop, hop, hop,
I said little bunny won’t you stop, stop stop.
I saw his little eyes go blink, blink, blink,
I saw his little nose go twink, twink, twink,
I said little bunny, won’t you stay,
Then he looked at me and he hopped away!
Caterpillars also arrived and we view 5 little ones as they grow and within days turn into chrysalises. We’ll be watching to see them morph into butterflies. We’ll feed them sugar water, and fresh cut flowers. We’ll release them in our garden near some flowers.
5 little butterflies landed on the door,
One flew away and then there were four.
Butterfly, butterfly, happy all day,
Butterfly, butterfly, fly, fly away.4 little butterflies landed in a tree,
One flew away and then there were three
Butterfly, butterfly, happy all day,
Butterfly, butterfly, fly, fly away.3 little butterfly wondering what to do,
One flew away and then there were two.
Butterfly, butterfly, happy all day,
Butterfly, butterfly, fly, fly away.2 little butterfly sitting in the sun,

Butterfly, butterfly, fly, fly away.1 little butterfly left all alone,
He flew away and then there were none.
Butterfly, butterfly, happy all day,
Butterfly, butterfly, fly, fly away.
Spring Festival will be here before you know it (April 17th)!
It will be a very short day, but a celebration, and we hope that you will all come to join.
Please bring a spring type basket for collecting eggs. The children will be able to hunt eggs (three each) at the beginning so please arrive on time.
There will be crafts for you and your child to make together, and bagel decorating (so don’t rush breakfast in the morning and save your appetite for a later treat). After 45 minutes we will make space in the parking lot for the primary festival.
To all parents whose children will be primary students next year, please remember to schedule a visit to the primary classes- soon. Visits are usually 10-15 minutes per class, and scheduled through the office.
I have uploaded pictures of the last month to Snapfish. They show the delight and fun of your children’s work and class dynamics! Enjoy!
