Peppermint Scented Play Dough
Peppermint scented play dough with glitter is a wonderful sensorial activity children can enjoy throughout the holiday season as well as a thoughtful gift a child can make for friends and family. Here’s what you’ll need:
- 2 cups flour
- 1 cup salt
- 2 tablespoons cream of tartar
- 1-2 tablespoons glitter
- 2 tablespoons oil (we used coconut oil)
- 2 cups water
- 2 teaspoons peppermint extract
In the video below Ms. Johanna shows how simple and enjoyable this recipe is to make. For best results, store dough in the refrigerator or sealed in an air tight bag or Tupperware.

Cooking along with a parent is a favorite activity among most toddlers. Children enjoy using “real tools” that are child size that allow them to accurately measure, pour, stir, shape, cut and bake with loved ones. Practical life works, such as baking, provide valuable opportunities for parents and children to spend time together. This collaboration can be of great benefit to our children and to our developing relationship.
