to play.
The next few months, we are diving into music! We took two of our shelves and filled them with instruments for the children to create music whenever they feel inclined. Exposing children to music helps the body and the mind work together.
Our days are filled with songs that are catchy to hear but also have a direction.
Here are some of our daily ones.
Wash, wash, wash your hands
wash, wash, wash your hands,
wash, wash, wash your hands,
it’s time to eat our lunch.
It’s time to get a plate,
It’s time to get a plate,
Let’s all grab a plate for snack
we don’t want to be late.
Rhythm at Lunch
During group, we use rhythm sticks to follow the beat by singing the song.
Hey (child’s name), what do you say
what should we do with our sticks today?
(The child will do something like tap them. So we all tap while singing.)
ba dum bum bum ba dum
ba dum bum bum ba dum
(Then, we proceed to ask the next child what we should do.)
When at home, sing your requests to your child, “Let’s go brush our teeth.”
or
Brush, brush, brush our teeth,
brush, brush, brush our teeth,
brush, brush, brush our teeth,
brush our teeth tonight.

Rainbows & Ladybugs
Right now, we are talking about the colors of the rainbow! The children have made the rainbow with their handprints, and we have them hanging in the room.
We also observed ladybugs this month and had a special ladybug release. We talked about nature and how to be gentle so the ladybugs could fly out of the jar and be free.
