The Students have studied the birth of the Universe and our planet Earth. They did lots of planet and constellation research. The children have worked through chemistry experiments, learned about the birth of the elements, studies the periodic table and will be doing atomic element research. We are also studying Sun, Earth and Moon, seasons, and gravity.
The class will begin volcano research soon. Each child will be in a group of mentors and protégés for their specific volcano study. Soon, we will begin studying rocks, mapping, how the Earth is shaped, plate tectonics, layers of the Earth, and landforms. The children are excited to have so many amazing topics to research!
Please come by and take a look at our organic garden that we received the grant for four years ago. It is full of fall plants and it is thriving! We also have a lovely collection of potted plants on our back deck, which you are welcome to stop in and take a look, at any time. The children have learned about different types of soil, root vegetables and root systems, stems, mushrooms, and are currently studying types of dry and succulent fruit.
We look forward to learning about scientists and mathematicians on Historical Halloween and we will also be celebrating Dia de los Muertos in November.
We are always in need of shoeboxes for dioramas. We would put to good use, Indian corn, pumpkins, gourds, and fall decorations also.
We will be having an organic apple tasting for nature study the last week in October. Sending in organic apples for snack during the end of October would be greatly appreciated as we usually end up having extra which we can use for our apple tasting.
Thanks for all you do to foster a parent/school partnership!
