The students have studied the birth of the Universe and our planet Earth. They did lots of planet and constellation research. The children have worked through chemistry experiments, learned about the birth of the elements, studied the periodic table and will be doing atomic element research. We are also studying Sun, Earth and Moon, seasons, clouds, weather, gravity, and centrifugal/centripetal force.
The class will begin volcano research soon. Each child will be in a group of mentors and protégés for their specific volcano of study. Soon, we will begin studying rocks, mapping, how the Earth is shaped, plate tectonics, layers of the Earth, and land forms. Soon we will begin rolling out our 2nd great lesson, the Time Line of Life. The children are excited to have so many amazing topics to research!
Please come by and take a look at our organic garden that we received the grant for two years ago. It is full of fall plants and it is thriving! We also have a lovely collection of potted plants on our back deck, which you are welcome to stop in and take a look, at any time. The children have learned about different types of soil, the life cycle of a butterfly, and are currently studying root vegetables and root systems.
Thank you to all who attended Mother’s Night last Thursday night, it was great to have so many of you with us!
