Planning Your Family Vacation: Traveling with Kids

With summer vacation right around the corner, NOW is the perfect time to start planning your family vacation.

For most, taking a trip with young children may not sound too relaxing and pleasurable at first thought. In retrospect traveling with children may present some very real challenges. So how can you ensure a happy and relaxing vacation for one and all? Kathy Graham calls her approach The Three P’s – Planning, Pacing, and Parenting!

After you view the video below, these tips are sure to start you on your way:

  • Planning – You can engage the child, let the child be part of the planning process, and think of ways to make the trip concrete. Connecting with the child is what creates the memories. This connection begins in the planning process.
  • Pacing – Enjoy quite time together. Create empty spaces where you have no real agenda. Follow the pace of the child.
  • Parenting – Make time for parents. Remember, this is your trip too!

About Kathy Graham

It was in Chicago, Illinois, where Kathy Graham first experienced a Montessori Classroom. After only a short period of time, through her internship at a local Montessori School, she became increasingly aware of her profound calling as a Montessori Teacher. She knew this was a special place and fell in love with the Montessori Method of Education. Since then, Graham has established herself as a strong advocate of creating beautiful environments inside the school and in her world of life. For over thirty six years now, she continues to conduct herself as an extraordinary model in these ways: a Montessori parent; Montessori Teacher; founder/director of the very first Montessori School in Jacksonville, Florida; mentor; friend; and her newest blessing, grandparent. Graham say’s “Montessori gives a feeling of hope for a better world because of what we give our children, the future leaders of tomorrow.”
