Halloween is nearly here once more, and if you’re like many families, you’ll be making a visit to a pumpkin patch. Half the fun of going to the pumpkin patch is the thrill of the hunt. Children of all ages enjoy picking out their very own pumpkin that will make a fantastic centerpiece for your home.
Once you have your pumpkin at home, children can first clean and polish to prepare the surface for decorating. Below we have pictures of Ms. Johanna’s pumpkin washing work. To incorporate this work in your home, all you will need is a scrub brush (an old tooth brush works well), a small pail for soap and water, and a hand towel for polishing. This practical life activity is a favorite among the Montessori Tides classrooms and can be an esteemed activity in your home during this Harvest Holiday!
