This time of year is full of traditions. A few weeks ago, the teachers and students joined for their Thanksgiving feasts, and now Montessori Tides School is preparing for another tradition – giving back to our community during the holiday season.
Our annual USO food drive began 14 years ago when MTS student Dawson Pickett started the food drive. MTS continues this tradition today.
We will collect Publix gift cards, as well as Publix manufactures’ coupons through Friday, December 11th.
The Upper Elementary students and third-year Lower Elementary students will use the donations to learn about how to put together a meal and budget, and how to make the most of sales and coupons. Of course, the biggest learning experience comes Dec. 11th, when they actually shop for the food and deliver it to the USO center.
