Wow, what a great March! Sometimes it feels like our classroom is filled with magic. All of our children are accomplishing a level of focus that didn’t seem possible in August. In March, we had a lovely field trip to Shanghai Circus to celebrate Chinese New Year. In math, we have been exploring ratio and proportion, decimals, percent and fractions.
Our geography skills are improving rapidly as we work on our map skills, Florida study, U.S. history and Europe study. Our lit study groups are doing excellent things. Several children are so into their books that they decided to finish the book ahead of schedule! We are reading “Inside Out and Back Again,” “The Phantom Tollbooth,” “Wonder” and “Wish Tree.”
We will be going to the Jacksonville Arboretum and Gardens with Lower Elementary for a day trip and many outdoor activities. Hopefully, the weather is awesome! Please make sure that your child dresses appropriately for the weather and is wearing sunscreen and bug spray! Please let me know if you would like to be a chaperone for this event. We will leave school at 9 a.m. and return around 2.
Mother’s Day Fundraiser
Our Mother’s fundraiser is in the works! Look for the order form to come home in the next few weeks!
Our annual Spring Performance will be Saturday, April 28, from 10 a.m. – noon. The event will be at Palms Presbyterian Church, 3410 Third St., in Jacksonville Beach. The children are working very hard on their performances. Family and friends are invited to join us for this event.
During the next few weeks, we will have Lower Elementary third-graders visiting as a transition period for next year. We are so thankful to have so many wonderful leaders in our current group to show them how we function as a community!
