Upper Elementary Busy with Fundraiser, Classwork
Our class has been working hard on our entrepreneurial spirit! Our schoolwide fundraisers have given us the opportunity to explore what it’s like to run a small business. The orders for Mother’s Day Baskets are higher this year, and we are excited to serve our customers!
We have been culminating the year with our study of the presidents of the United States, WWI, world geography, Florida history, writing skills, decimals, cubing and algebra.
Students also are enjoying our Van Gogh study, philosophy and yoga. Their balance and calm nature is impressive!
Summer is quickly approaching; make your summer plans soon!

Ms. Kathy will lead the last Parent Education Night class Thursday, May 4, at 6:30 p.m. on “Freedom and Discipline.” She will discuss what it means to have “freedom within boundaries” and the beauty that is created by this Montessori principle! I hope you can join us.
Parent/ Child Journaling
At this age, Upper Elementary children are growing out of the stage where they are very sensitive to order. They might become a little messier or not notice that their bodies are starting to smell different. As preteens and teenagers, they will start to pull away, showing behavior that appears as if they want more space.
It will be a delicate time in your parenting. I recently have found a set of mother/ child journals that would be a great addition to your communication and home lives. Please ask me or check out my Amazon wish list if you want more details!
Thank you to all who have donated items and time to our classroom!
3rd-year and 6th-year parents are invited to MTS on the last day of school for our bridge ceremony and graduation at 11 a.m. All guests should join is in Upper Elementary this year. The students are working hard on their speeches, so bring your tissues!
Summer is quickly approaching, and we will take time to be in nature! As part of our community service-oriented curriculum, U.E. will be doing a beach cleanup May 19. We will leave school around 9 a.m. to walk to Jacksonville Beach to fly kites, observe animals and pick up trash. We will be back to school around 11:30 a.m. Please make sure your child is prepared to be in nature on this day. We will NOT be getting in the water.
