Some students are finishing their winter holiday researches and beginning their researches on important African Americans in American history. Our geographic focus is Asia, and we’ll be moving into Australia shortly. Did you know that Australia is technically part of an archipelago? We will continue our historical study of Florida, the United States and the world.
This month, we will celebrate the 100th day of school, Valentine’s Day and Presidents Day!

Upper Elementary is very excited to announce that we are now part of the 4-H Embryology Program! We will incubate our eggs for 21 days and observe the growth process! After the eggs hatch, the chicks will go back to 4-H where they will live happy chicken lives on a farm as egg layers themselves.
Parent Education
In our classroom, we practice oracy as a behavior management skill. These are lifelong skills used in communicating. You can help promote your child’s understanding of oracy, by giving them eye contact when they speak to you or making sure that they wait until you are ready to talk, instead of just talking at you while you do something else.

Get to Know Us
In the beginning of the year, I sent home the open house folder with my credentials and background. I wish I had done the same thing when Ms. Stephanie joined our classroom, because she is an important member of our group, and her experience brings a lot to us as a community.
She is a mother of two awesome teenagers, and she also holds her master of education degree in secondary education English, along with years of classroom teaching experience. We’re so glad she has made Tides her home! We look forward to knowing more about your lives.
